Re: Engine runs only at low RPM
Hi! The other crack is some 5-8 centimetres long and vertical. It is located at the front left corner of the block. ( Behind the generator, above the coolant tap ) It is not really uncommon on earlier E1A blocks here in Scandinavia. The later blocks used for Super majors have a bit more material at ...

Re: Engine runs only at low RPM
Hi! I have checked the diagram and it is OK. I had some time this afternoon and could do some more test. When I loosen the nut in the front of the governor the engine start to perform more or less OK. ( The dumping valve adjuster ) But as soon i tighten it the problem comes back. When it is loos the...

Engine runs only at low RPM
Hi guys! Now I need good advice from someone with greater experience again! I have assembled a Fordson major diesel (year model 52-53 with an injection pump with vacuum regulator.) I have assembled it from parts of a one engine with a broken engine block and another with a block in good condition. O...

Re: Power Major Clutch Won't Disengage.
Hi!
I have used the driveshaft/shafts on the gearbox for aligning the clutch, an then I putted them back in the gearbox. You would probably remow them anyhow to renew the oil seals when you have the tractor split in two. This way of doing the job was functional enough for me!

Re: Cylinder liners
Well, we are still using the same structure in the registration number also on brand new vehicles, three letters follow by three figures. But as you describe your ride here you might have had focus on other things than registration plates! Anyhow I myself live in the southern part of Sweden, on the ...

Re: "Strange" engine number
Yes probably a reconditioned engine. But as far as I know the number starts with an "S" when it is after market engines. I might bee wrong of course, so I hope we can get some information from Brian

Re: Cylinder liners
Thank you Brian! Then I most likely will leave the liners in place, as they are in OK condition. Adrian; The engine is in general in OK condition and the crank is to be replaced to a used one in good condition so I won’t do any complete overhaul this time. I have done that before and the result is v...

Cylinder liners
Hi again! I have a question for you, maybe specially for Brian? I currently work on a bit older major - diesel, ( engine number 1252505 ) The reason to repair it is a bearing failure in the crank, so there has not been any problem with water leaking in to the oil as far as I know. The bearing proble...

"Strange" engine number
Hi everyone! I have been following your discussions and it is obvious that this is a good place to come up with a question! A friend of mine have a fordson major ( diesel) from 1957 according to the plate on the "wall" in front of the battery. But the engine number is different one and it does not l...

Re: Injection pump Minimec
Thank you! II will download and give it a thought. About the top speed adjustment I can mention that my tractor had a very high top RPM when i bought it some years ago. A bit more than 3000 RPM, giving a top speed on road by 65- 70 Km/h. Was a bit fun, but I soon adjusted it down to the specified to...

Re: Injection pump Minimec
OK, that was new info for me. In my case also the "non agriculture" one is equipped with governor. ( but maybe a more lazy one...)

Injection pump Minimec
Hej! Are there someone who now if the minimec diesel injection pump is used on the super major engine in different versions? Are there differences between minimec injection pump in agriculture applications compared to other application using the same Fordson Super major engine? My question is based ...

Re: Hydraulic adjustment on Super Major-64
Now its working! I putted the tractor back in one piece yesterday, and the position controll now works 100% OK. I also think the draft controll is really OK, but I have not tried it in real heavy work yet. The actuall problem was the small roller on the arm detecting the position of the lift arms. I...

Re: Hydraulic adjustment on Super Major-64
Hi Adrian, and Thanks Brian! Adrian; Yes, the system cut the oil flow when the lifting arm reach top position. (The problem is the lack of position controll in lower positions, and what I would call an ower-reacting draft controll. -First no reaction, and later on when the weels start to slip, the sy...

Hydraulic adjustment on Super Major-64
Hi! I have a Super Major -64 with a bit strange function in the hydraulic lift. The lifting capacity is 100% OK. Both with auxillery services and in the lift arms. The position control and the draft control function seem to be OK, but only for the upper 20% of the moving segment of the lift arms. Fo...
