Re: Beauty lurks beneath

OK had a look under the rear end , the oil plug is on a round plate about 2-2.5 inches across , not sure if that is what you are referring to Henk , hope so :)

Buying bits for a 3 point linkage

http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg508/MartyBoyce/Fordsonrearend.jpg?t=1342316395 Looking at the back of my Blue Beauty (55 Major) can anyone tell me what I need to buy , scrounge , barter for to set up a three point linkage? I'm pretty sure I will need to remove the belt pulley from the PTO . T...

Re: Beauty lurks beneath

I figured they were something to do with hydraulics I believe it had a backhoe attachment at some stage , after the other hydraulics are fixed and stopped leaking , the exhaust conversion to an upright one is next so that I can actually drive it around the paddocks in the warmer months , followed by...

Re: Flushing out Hydraulic systems

As per the answer on my other post , the hydraulics are run from a front mounted tank spearate fromt he rear drive , but a kero oil mixture sounds ok , my major concern was not to use something that would perish or damage the hoses etc

Thanks,

Re: Beauty lurks beneath

I beleive that is correct , well at least the front mounted tank , not exactly sure where the pump lives at the moment , could wel be built into the tank

Re: Beauty lurks beneath

To be perfectly honest Henk I have no idea  My previous mechanical efforts involved pulling down and rebuilding horse drawn sulkies/jinkers , not a lot of hydraulics on them  I haven't worried about the hydraulics too much as I know I have to refurbish the rams for the bucket lift , when...

Re: Beauty lurks beneath

To me they don't get in the way , but I spent many years driving a forklift , so am probably used to having the uprights there .To me they are a handy hold on point when reversing

One thing I was warned of is when driving under trees etc that the ROP can catch on branches and bring them down on you

Re: Beauty lurks beneath

There you go , finally worked out Photobucket

A bit of a pressure wash will make a big difference. Got to use her in anger yesterday when I got my Isuzu D max bogged down in the horse paddock while doing some fencing  . Those meaty drivers worked a treat :D

Flushing out Hydraulic systems

G'dau all , I need to clean out the hydraulic system on the bucket arms , it has had whatever sort of oil was available in it over the past couple of years and while I recondition the ram seals it is probably best to clean out the entire system . Question is what is the best thing to flush through t...

Re: A vison of beauty

Thanks all , yeah I will get the camera out on the weekend and put up some pics . Of interest to me is that she has the horizontal exhaust system that runs underneatht the undercariage and exits near the rear end , I'm not sure if these were an after market set up or possibly a modification to fit t...

A vison of beauty

I tinker with being a Bush Poet so penned this one today dedicated to my Fordson Major Beauty The first time I laid eyes on her my heart had skiped a beat I gazed upon her curves reflected in the summer heat sure the years were hard on her , but I could see the fire an untamed beauty , owning her be...
