Re: Idle low and won't rev after changing diaphragm

https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1150x647q90/910/xdJ9BJ.jpg Skyblue my air cleaner is new and shiny with no gunk to block it 8) I think I may have found the problem. I removed the new diaphragm and compared it to the old one. The movement is huge compared to the old one. This must mean it can pull...

Re: Idle low and won't rev after changing diaphragm

Update - I removed the air cleaner pipe to manifold, got just 200 rpm more. I removed the inlet manifold and cleaned out all the carbon from it and checked that the butterfly is opening fully. I now have 1600 RPM MAX but this is still too slow. I disconnected the vacuum pipe going to the diaphragm a...

Re: Idle low and won't rev after changing diaphragm

Yes cleaned the little round gauze filter on the side of the pump. Air filter is clean. New Fuel filter, new lift pump, new fuel tank tap and pipe from tap to pump. Fresh diesel and tank is spotless inside.

Idle low and won't rev after changing diaphragm

The diaphragm failed on my 1959 Dexta while using it. The revs just kept going higher and higher even with the throttle shut to idle. I removed the diaphragm and found a massive split in the old leather. I ordered a new one from Agriline Products, cleaned out all the old muck and debris, applied som...

Re: Video of my Dexta and Topper

That is just a belt driven Wessex Topper with blades. The PTO shaft was seized and the covers were broken so we decided to put mesh and perspex behind the driver to stop flying debri and stones hitting him. Not ideal I know but we couldn't afford a new shaft. I would have the mesh there anyway just ...

Here is a link to a video of my 1959 Dexta clearing some saplings with a Topper. The land was mulched only 10 months ago

Re: Stuck in gear - Gear stick weld?

Thank you for your comments, I will have a go at welding the end of the gear stick and will let you know what happens. I might need to look at the pins/springs that lock the shift rods because I don't think they are locking the rods into neutral properly.

Stuck in gear - Gear stick weld?

Hello everyone, my Dexta gets stuck in gear mainly when coming out of reverse. I have been searching the internet and posts on here for precise details on welding the end of the gear stick but I keep coming across a lot of dead links when looking for photos of peoples welding, the links relate to th...

Heater Glow Plug Preheat

My Dexta doesn't have the injector in the inlet manifold, It has been removed and blanked off with a bolt or primer pump near the fuel tap. Odd thing is although the primer and injector are missing someone has gone to the trouble of rewiring the heater plug which heats up perfectly. I guess the plug...

Re: Steering Box Oil Level

Well I didn't just post on here I did read my owners manual and the workshop manual but it only tells you about refurbishing the steering box.

Is it easy to see the worm drive then after removing the centre bolt?

Steering Box Oil Level

I'm trying to find out the oil level in my Dexta. Is it filled by taking the steering wheel off and pouring the oil down the centre of the column?

Do you simply fill it until it reaches the top?

Many Thanks
