Standard valve springs

Hello everyone!

Was wondering has anyone got some tips or advice on how to remove the valves on a standard engine????

all that you need is a fork that the valve stem will fit between to pry the valve spring up with and then tap the valve head down with a soft hammer and watch where the collets go if they fall out

Thanks for that i messed about with the 1st one for a bit its very simple then when ya get the knack of it!!
One other thing there is a gasket on the cover when ya take it off the side would a good thick gasket paper do as a replacement or can ya get the proper job for it??

Hi Steven,

You can get the proper gasket from http://www.old20.com/ Just go to their shop link select Model N and then go for engine parts. I have personally never dealt with them, but they have been around for years and that has to say something positive about them.

Hello Steven,

I made a gasket myself, and added a little liquid gasket, result is: No leaks.

OLD20 otherwise is a good company to deal with imho.

Ive been scratching paint off in a few places to find the serial num but havent come across it yet where is it usually stamped? I think its round 1940 model it is painted orange with wide wings and has an oil bath air filter!!
