How do I post photos?

So far, for showing photos, I have added a link to Photobucket because in the forum FAQ it says, and I quote: Images can indeed be shown in your posts. However, there is no facility at present for uploading images directly to this board. End of quote.
But, others are posting photos here. I know there is an Image button below the Subject line, but that doesn't do much. What am I missing. Am I just getting too old for this new-fangled stuff?

Hi Eric,
To show photos in your post...
1) Join a web site that will allow you to save photos but
Be Careful make sure it is a site that others can access
WITHOUT a password, otherwise you will be able to see them but no one else will. Also, make sure the photo is not too big !!
2) Load (put) you photo onto that web site.
3) copy the full link of your photo on that website
example
http://www.website/location of photo/name of photo
4) Start your new message in
Fordson Tractor Pages
5) type open square bracket then img then type close square bracket
6) Add to this the link to your photo that you got a item (3)
7) finish it with open square bracket then forward slash then img then closed square bracket.
That's it.
You will not see your photo as you write or edit your message, only when it is displayed on the message board.
An open square bracket is this

A closed square bracket is this
]
A forward slash is this

Mike, thanks for trying to help me. Alas, I have turned out to be a poor student!
