E27N Magneto

Hi All,
My E27N has a Lucas SR type mag fitted, which I know is incorrect,
most of what I've read states the mag should be a Lucas GJ4 up 47/48 then a Lucas 4RF.
I've managed to aquire 2 GJ4 mags, from which I hope to build up 1 good one. Thing is, the GJ4 looks different to others I've seen
on E27's. Also, I understood that the GJ4 had an advance/retard mechanism - but neither of the 2 I have seem to have one - maybe I'm missing some parts?
does anyone have any pictures or diagrams of this type of magneto? or just any info on this magneto?
Thanks
Tim

May be this helps. There is a little lever on below the cables, where you can advance timing and turn the ignition of with. It is controlled from the dashboard.
If needed, I can take detail pictures next week.
Best regards

Hi Matt, Emiel,
Thanks for the pic's. The mag/parts I have is like the picture Matt posted, so at least its a start
- Emiel - is that the 4RF?
From what I have though I cant work out how/where the advance
mechanism is or should be. I'll try to get some pictures posted so you can see what I have. I must admit to being a complete novice with magneto's, so the answer is probably obvious!
Thanks again,
Tim

May be you should check this link first. It's quite interesting.

GJ4 Mag

This photo shows where the advance and retard lever goes on on the back of the mag (some of the car magnetos had no advance and retard)
The front picture shows where the sealing ring goes into the magneto bracket on the engine casting, the GJ4 car mag is a different shape on the front.
Hope this helps,
Matt

Here's the mag's I have -
I was hoping to build a complete one from the 2. I see now why I couldn't understand the advance/retard mech - I don't have one...
- looking at Matts pics there are other differences - so I think mine probably came from a car? (what cars used them?)
- is there anything salvagable or should I cut my losses and start again?
Cheers
Tim

They look like car mags to me, I am not sure what cars used GJ4 magnetos. Some parts will be the same as the tractor version depending on the rotation (clockwise or anticlockwise)
