63-64 3.6L 220 c.i. 4cyl diesel rebuild info

Post by lakebilly »

I have a loud knock & I am trying to collect info on rebuilding the motor. I am not a mechanic so simple terms would be appreciated. I have found rebuild kits, & crankshaft online. I want to make sure that I get the right ducks in a row before I start buying parts & attempting to fix this tractor. Is there a manual on rebuilding what I believe is the 3.6L 220 c.i? Thanks for input, or related links. russ

I have parts list & service manual.

I expect to remove oil pan & have a mechanic inspect bottom end; crankshaft & bearings. Any suggestions?

I don't have a New Major, nor ever repaired an engine for one, but I did rebuild my E27n (poured babbits and all)

What I do know is, If you have a loud knock, it's the bottom end doing the knocking, and that means pulling the engine out to remove the crank from the block.

Just dropping the pan will only allow you to look.

Welcome.

Look at the homepage and search for the manuals and parts list.
