How much oil goes in the bottom of an oil bath ?
also why does it need it

There should be a line, or a level mark on the oil bath. The oil collects dust particles and causes them to sink to the bottom thereby keeping them out of the cylinders where dust will wear the parts at a much faster rate than normal. Dandy Dave!
