Hi folks. Firstly I apologise for not being on here for months! Anyway, I started old Major up yesterday after being stood for three months. Fired up no problem, however after ten minutes I noticed the exhaust side was covered in oil. Could this be down to 'breathing' problems do you think?

I'm going to get it into the shed and completely strip & rebuild the engine. New pistons, liners etc etc .

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello and tell you whats happened LOL

Sounds like it may be unburned fuel, was it running rough, smoking bad?

I think you need to take it out and work it. If you idle these tractors around, oil will start to slip past the rings. Put a medium load on it for a few hours, something like pulling a disk harrow, and it will clean up. Dandy Dave!

Aye,stick it on a slurry pump if you can, they were built to work, seen early ones on threshing mills for weeks on end.
