Hey I'm new here so this advice might not fit what you are experiencing, but the bottom of my air filter appears to have some old sodering as if it had been small pinholes etc.

Hi
This may not be the answer to your problem but try this. I could not figure out a similar leak on my super major the symptoms where the same as yours. in the end I found that 2 of the spot welds that held the mounting bracket at the back of the air cleaner had pulled out of the canister.
The oil was leaking down from pin holes left where the weld pulled out. The oil was being drawn up while running and leaking out 2 inches above the filter bowl at the back where it was hard to see and running down to make it look like the joint was leaking. To find it i had to remove the filter and gently pull the bracket to open the holes .
I hope this helps

Regards Robert

Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious but are you absolutely sure that the circular joiner, (tightened with the screw fixing) is over top and bottom lips at the back of the cleaner. It's easy to have a 12mm gap at the back and think its done up ok.

Another possibility, have you got the bottom removable filter screen fitted?
