I have just acquired a pair of rusted drop arms and before I start heating and whacking I need to know how the levelling box goes together...



I have borrowed this image from ebay, its not my own.

I do not have a pin in the slot as shown but instead through a hole roughly at point C

I assume, that part B should slide out of part A and that the threaded bar should unscrew from part B?

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Well, you are correct! I don't know what kind of implements would warrant the pin being located in the slot, as it would allow a little movement before the implement lifted. The left link should have an identical slot. I'm working on trying to free up one of my own. It is still showing its bad side right now, but it is pretty rusty. I have managed to get the sliding section apart and have it flipped upside down with PB Blaster soaking inside the hollow tube on the end of the threaded part. Hopefully between that and a little propane wrench action, it will come loose!

I put my pin in the "B" position when using my flail mower to let it float independent of the left lift arm. The 2" of float at the "B" position gives about 4-6" of float at the end of the link arm. It helps with the large clumps of Guinea Grass I am trying to knock down.

The idea of the slotted holes was for wide implements to allow the outer sides to move up and down as the terrain changed.

To get the levelling box apart:
Remove the knuckle. On top of the box there is a lid. remove it with a small screwdriver. Remove the three bolds that holds the lever bearing and remove the lever. Press out the threaded bar. There's a flat bearing on the bottom.

The levelling box came apart a little too easily for my liking. On inspection, the thread is very worn and after screwing into the bottom part (B on the picture) for an inch or so it just drops in its also bent slightly at the base of the gearbox

The fixed drop arm is still rusted solid.

Does anyone have a replacement threaded rod/gear and part B for a levelling box they want to sell ??

Thanks Henk, I knew about Agriline, but just wanted to try and avoid paying €221.40 + delivery for a pair of drop arms. I only paid €1300 for the tractor!
