Hi,

I have a tipping pipe on my Power Major which I have never used and was just wondering what activates it? Is it pressurised when the PTO is engaged, or when the lift arms raise or what???

A photo of which type of valve would help answer you question. Dandy Dave!

Its just the standard PM valve DD with the lift lever in the quadrant, no other knobs or levers.

I'll try and get a photo later on.

You need PTO engaged, raise lift arms fully and continue to hold lever up, this will then send oil out of the tipping pipe connection (assuming there is something connected)

This pipe is also a useful 'accessory' for pumping oil from the back end, back into the gearbox where it belongs, if you've got the usual leaky internal seals. Just connect a length of hydraulic hose with an open end to the tipping pipe, drop the open end into the gearbox filler, haul up the lever and watch the oil flow! Well - it works for me! :)
