Fordson Major Date

My first posting with a query no doubt raised many times previously. I have a Major with serial number stamped on a plate on the firewall: 1447320. Engine has S659895 adjacent the injector pump and L16A is on the casting adjacent the clutch linkage. Any info would be much appreciated.

Welcom to this forum.
You have a september 1957 model MII, but a replacement engine. The casting code is also september 1957.

Thanks very much for your speedy reply - and for the welcome. I hadn't thought it was that old. Not bad considering it's in use most days!

Given the fact that most Majors had a hard life and still are in use, tells you how good these tractors are.
