Hi Guys! I have just got my 1963 NP Super Major running!! Had to tow her round the carpark a few times to bleed the fuel systems but she now starts on the botton! No blue smoke and running clean, bit of tapping but not unexpected.

One question, Is it normal for there to be abit of oil spitting up through the timing case breather???

Cheers
Steve

Hello Steve,

Congratulations that your tractor runs.

I don't know what you did to the eninge, but assuming you did a rebuild a little bit spilling of oil through the breater is no problem in my opinion. Give her a good workout for a couple of hours. The rings will set and seal better. You should lightly oil the gauze in your breather to make a dust filter. If there is no gauze in, it will leak more there.

In Holland we really start worrying when our Ford(son)s stop leaking and spitting oil. Then there is no oil in,...............

Thanks Emiel, All i did engine wise was the rear crankseal. will give her some hard work and see how we get on.

Cheers

I agree. Work it. Most likely sticky rings from sitting, or Idling around. Dandy Dave!

Hi Adrian, I havent got a oil pressure guage fitted yet, but i have got good oil flow to the top of the rockers. I think my fuel pump timing is slightly out as she has got abit of diesel knock and white smoke when you rev her up (good be lack of compression though)???

White smoke means you are pouring raw fuel into the engine and it is not burning. Could be timing? Have you bled the injectors well? While it is running, crack each fuel line with a wrench to be sure it is hitting on all 4 cylinders. Could also be a bad injector dripping fuel. Dandy Dave!

Hi Steve

I know you did just about everything on your tractor but I can't remember if you rebuilt the engine. Just trying to get a feel for where your engine's at so as to understand better what the symptoms might point to and originate from.

Best

Hi Dave, Im pretty sure i have bled her up properly, I had the rocker cover off yesterday while she was running and noticed a small drop from one of the banjos on the fuel return line. When i took it off the banjo had come off the pipe completely so i have Silver Soldered it back on.

Hi Adrian, All i did to the engine was the rear crankseal as i hadnt heard the engine running myself as the chap i bought her from had already started stripping her to do the seal. Like you said dave it could be that the timming is slightly out.

On a different note i have come into the workshop this morning and found a pool of oil on the floor coming from the pulley seal on the side. Is it the "PTO Pulley seal" that I need from Agriline??

Im also still looking for part of the throttle linkage, The part that is at the bottom of the steering coloum.....

Thanks for all your help chaps.
Ps. does anyone know what bulbs fit in the oil pressure and generator warning lights? and where i can get them???
