Hello Everyone, I am looking to change the coupler or washer on my 1960 Power Major (Simms pump) as I think the noise is a bit too much. After seeing some other nice examples at a recent tractor show I think mine is making more noise than most.
I thought I would post on here before I bought anything or took anything apart because I want to be fully prepared when the time comes to do it.
From looking at a lot of the part websites I can only see one option of washer and complete coupler and wondered it there is anything else I should buy seal or washer perhaps that I will regret not buying half way through.
Having not removed a diesel pump before it feels a little daunting but wondered if I was only changing the coupler is it infact a little bit more straight forward.
As a bit of a tractor novice any suggestions are very welcome!

I imagine you have a std fibre type coupling. If you have a repro plastic drive pad you need to get a fibre one, the plastic ones are noisier and more likely to break. Check you have end float of 0.010" in the drive pad and make sure everything is tight (claw bolts and clamp bolt). There's not much more worth doing, no point in changing seals if the corrent ones are ok as that's a huge job. Make sure you don't disturb the timing. No need to change the drive pad unless running is poor, they do break from time to time.
