Welcome to the Forum.
If you look on the general pages of this website:
http://www.fordsontractorpages.nl/
you should find the info you seek.

Are you sure the pre-fix is 09C not 09D? To properly date your tractor, you need to read the casting codes, see general pages.

Hi Ben,

Curious why you thought it might be 09D?

I would have guessed by the engine serial number it might be 09C (a'63 model.)

Cheers,
Les

Les,
You may well be right. According to the website, the tractor # lies in the 09D series.

However I think there have been posts notably by Brian on out of sequence numbering for 1964.

The casting codes would help tie it down

Yes, I ran into problems with numbers, I forgot that Ford changed things and went back to "90****" in January 1964.

The number would fit both years :o so the prefix and casting codes are important.

Does the 'general' page need amending in light of the new evidence, as the highest 09C # is listed as 916556?

Yes, you have found a site error Ben! But , then even Alan Condies information is wrong according to the Ford parts manual!

916556 is the mid month figure for June1963, the mid month for December 1963 is 934524 for home and 934521 for export.

913383 was the introduction of the NP versions and all Dexta and Super Dexta figures are mixed up.

Super Dextas first serial number in 1962 was 711115

Looks like it. Casting codes would make it certain.

To further complicate things:
916556 is the mid month figure for June1963
The Fordson Dexta, Super Dexta parts list 1957/- (F001566/10/63) that I have, has 916556 as the end of month number for Export and 916550 for Domestic for June/63?

None of those are casting codes, they are mould numbers and the same on every Dexta no matter how old.

The numbers you need are something like 3G14 or 4F06, could even be A14B type number. These are all examples not actual numbers.

Les

You are right! I was reading three books and why I put mid month I do not know! Must be getting old that is the second or third error this year!

Will forward the Petrol Dexta manual on to you when it arrives.

snowman,

That seems to be the right code format for a June '63 and later model but I don't believe that J was used for a month then.
J was used for July in the 1st half of '63.

There are more date codes on each of the rear sides of the axle housings (trumpets)....
and just under the 7005 and T3 on the gearbox...
and about the same area on the clutch housing under the 7505...
and under the seat bracket on the hyd cover.
