Post by GERRY »

Hi, could someone tell me if a58 standered dexta cyl head will fit on a super dexta, also if there is a different head gasket for both type,

Hi Gerry

When researching my cylinder head replacement I came to the conclusion that the cylinder heads were the same

I would expect the head gaskets to be different due to the larger bore on the Super Dexta but, the spares suppliers dont reflect this.

A cyl-head of a STD and as Super are the same.
The gasket is different (hole diameter of the piston). You can put a super-gasket on a standard but not the other way round. I even doubt that a gasket for the standard is still available.

Looking at the pics and the dents around the combustion face on No1 pot I would say that cylinder has gobbled something it shouldn't at some point

It probably will be Gerry, I have fitted heads in the past where there is some pitting.

My only worry is if they will give stress riser points which could encourage cracking (and as my original head is cracked I am infering that maybe the Dexta heads are a little prone to it)
