			get that little roof thing off the air intake pipe that extends up through the engine cover?  I have whacked and whacked and the thing wont budge.

			It should just pull off, would someone have screw fixed it at some stage? 
 
But generally they are just a push fit one pipe over another!

			mine was the same. i actually pulled the top off. i endded up cutting the outer tube off and buying a replacement pre cleaner. be carefull not to cut the "inner" pipe off iff you want to be keep original you could keep the old top and replace the pipe so it is a slide on fit?

			It sounds like it's probably rusted.  Try heating it, and see if it will move.
