Brake lights

Post by john.n »

I have been looking for a way to add brake lights to my dexta without adding extra lights to the mudguards.
I have managed to find some dual filament bulbs and fitted them to into the side lights.
This seems to work well but will shine a white light forward when i brake, is this a problem?
trying to keep the tractor looking original. any comments welcomed.

Regards,

John

If you are going to fit brake lights as I presume you intend to use it on the road then you should be both legal and safe.
Showing a white light to the front when braking is not going to be noticed if you drive with your lights on for safety as the side light will probably mask the extra brightness.
I would also reccomend the addition of indicators, these can be a small addition (and not spoil the appearance) but again makes you safer on the road.
I fitted a brake switch under the left hand running board with a fine nylon covered fishing trace wire attached through a spring onto the brake rod by a jubilee clip. Unobtrusive and easily adjusted by altering the clip position.
My pennyworth.
