I advertised on the swaps forum that I was looking for a CLOCKWISE proofmeter, just like the one I have from my dexta. Jerry informs me that all standard dextas are indeed anti clockwise. I looked at Don's pics of his 1959 Dexta (the same year as mine) and his is indeed anti clockwise.
Now my father in 20 years has never remembered the clockwise proof working which would make me think it was a quick fix which didnt work. It is a Smiths clock though.

This is my reason for posting this topic as it may be useful as a warning to other numpties like myself who own mongrel Dextas fitted with a clockwise proofmeter and who may be tempted to purchase parts listed like the one above. I almost last week purchased this part.
