Dexta Proof Meter. Anti Clockwise or Clockwise?

Once again, I've added a new topic. (And i read somewhere people were worried about the lack of posts) Its just that you lads are an amazing source of help. It's like drinking from a fountain of knowledge!

I advertised on the swaps forum that I was looking for a CLOCKWISE proofmeter, just like the one I have from my dexta. Jerry informs me that all standard dextas are indeed anti clockwise. I looked at Don's pics of his 1959 Dexta (the same year as mine) and his is indeed anti clockwise.

Now my father in 20 years has never remembered the clockwise proof working which would make me think it was a quick fix which didnt work. It is a Smiths clock though.

I also saw advertised in ebay a Fordson Dexta or Super Major Tacho with CLOCKWISE mechanism........ http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fordson-Dexta-Sup ... 3a62b7948c

This is my reason for posting this topic as it may be useful as a warning to other numpties like myself who own mongrel Dextas fitted with a clockwise proofmeter and who may be tempted to purchase parts listed like the one above. I almost last week purchased this part.

Yep, they are anti-clockwise operation on the Dexta (not sure about the Petrol ones though)

Petrols are clockwise but the ones here aren't the same as shown on the link to eBay.
They have the hours at the top and the rev needle sweeps the bottom of the dial.

I have a diesel so my tacho goes anti-clock.
Took it for a run this afternoon, went like a train up the hills around here.
