Check valve assembly

Post by Mervyn Spencer »

Hi

Is it possible to remove the check valve seat with out the special tool recommended in the w/s manual. The hyd. top that I have intentions of using has been exposed to the weather and I have noticed a little bit of rust on the check valve seat, which I was wondering if I could remove with some brasso? :?:

It is possible to do it with a bolt and sleeve but if you break it you are in serious trouble. The seat is a very tight fit. If it is just a bit of rust on the seat a polish would do it but nothing more abrasive than "Brasso" or jewellers polish.

Thanks Brian
The rust is ever so slight, I could leave it and see what happens after I have reassembled it. How would one test to see if it works properly. I should probably really ask what is the function of the valve?

I did eventually get the front portion of the valve out after appling plenty of tool in a can and patience. That part was fairly clean.

If it does not hold the lift arms drop. Will look up some of my old notes and let you know how it works. :D

Thanks Brian, It will be a while before I can get everything back to normal, so there is no urgency. :D
