After the hydraulics on my Dexta stopped working I decided to do a number of jobs - hydraulics, lift pump, leaking combustion chamber gasket, water pump and a new thermostat which I discovered wasn't even fitted. She now runs sweet as a nut and doesn't smoke or miss a beat once hot (She sounded horrible before) she even holds my heavy duty topper up after the engine has been turned off (it used to be on the ground before I was out the seat).
My only worry is that the temperature gauge now sits just past the green, it sits there steady and the thermostat clearly doesn't open until that point so I'm inclined to think the temp gauge is off. Do you guys think this is anything to worry about? I bought the thermostat from Agriline.
Thanks
mine sits just to the right of green section if working hard / propperly not shown any signs of cooking yet , will show cooler if on light work - like my saw bench .
what do u think stopped the lift arms falling ? just out of interest ?
mine still bob and i've serviced every think i can think of .
Some mornings I wake up grumpy, but most mornings I let her sleep in.
i say grean but its blue section just checked . right edge of blue is 175 f my mine runs abit hotter 185 195 ?? needles prob plumb up 12 o'clock long way of full on the gauge
i think its fine .

The middle section on mine is green, but could be faded blue. The needle sits at about 180/185 which from what you've said sounds normal which is great. It's odd that they've made the red section cover over half the temp range .
I replaced all the o-rings and the piston seal which was the original lip type and filled her up with a 15w/40 engine oil which is thicker than what I was using before I think (hyd fluid). I also replaced the cam follower pin and have had to fit a stop on the quadrant over half way down as it now lifts the topper too far and the pto catches, so I've gained about 110% more lift height Result!
Will now hold the topper up for hours rather than seconds Tom
If pulling the aux keeps it up then at least you can rule out certain areas, if you look at the diagram in the workshop manual you can see what could be leaking by looking "down stream" of the aux valve. Sadly I think thats a long list!
about the thermostats and the temp gauges..... The old thermostats were set to open at 160 , the new ones everyone seems to be selling are set to 180. The 'normal' area in the gauge is calibrated for the old thermostats.
180 shouldn't cause any problems....if it wants to boil when working it really hard, try a pressurized radiator cap.
