Replacing Thermostat

Post by ozmark »

Howdy -

So my project to replace the cooling hoses has now turned into a new radiator (which arrives tomorrow) and while I was removing hoses, I thought I might as well check the thermostat.

I appear to have the old water outlet from the head with the 7.3cm spaced screws. But what I believe is the thermostat looks nothing like the replacement parts I've seen online. It also appears to be firmly stuck - aside from undoing the two bolts and removing the hose adapter, is there any trick to removing the thermostat - or do I just need a little more force to pull it out?

Here's some photos I took:

hI it may be the orignal type which, has sort of flutes if thats the right name, they go
down deeper into holder, and can be abit more diffucult to pull out. if its the new type
just working around the lip with asmall screwdriver and it should come out, dont be
to rough with it as its probley been in there along time, gerry
