Congratulations on figuring that one out.

Thank you lot for all your help. It's true that a picture is worth a thousand words!
Next question........... how do i go about setting the lever 180 degrees in the correct position? If my understanding is correct, both levers in on my tractor should be facing the same direction?
There is a little screw at the butterfly inside the intake pipe holding the butterfly to the shaft. Take that out and turn the shaft and put the screw in again, You may hve to take off the manifold to gain access to it.
The rear is correct so they should point oposite

Remove the inlet manifold from the engine and you will see that the butterfly is fastened to the spindle by a screw. Remove the screw and carefully turn the spindle through 180 degrees, you will have to pull it out to clear the stops and replace the screw.
I would use some loctite on the screw to ensure that it doesen't work loose. The last thing that you want is for the screw to fall out and pass through the engine, worse still you would lose control of the engine speed as the butterfly would be free of the spindle.
Butterfly, inside air intake manifold. The slot headed screw needs removing and the butterfly turned 180 degrees. Be careful not to loose the wee screw, magnetic screwdriver of wee blob of grease on the screwdriver. Needle nosed pliers required to re assemble. Is there a gasket on the inlet manifold? I may have to do the same to fix exactly the same problem and don't fancy tackling the job with the manifold in situ...

Yes see pn 957E-9441 on p71 of Parts List. You can easily make one if need be.
