Injector pump lever attachment?

Post by 60dexta »

Hi All,

I have been working away on my dexta solving lots of things that were broken, stiff, worn out etc.

One little issue I have is on the injector pump there is a throttle lever about 4" long standing vertically between the pump and engine block. The top end is connected to the throttle via a horizontal link. The bottom end is connected to a shaft that runs through the injector pump with stops on the outside end. How is it attached to this shaft? Is is rather loose and wobby and it would be a real pain if it were to fail and then require the pump to be removed to sort it out. Now that I have poked out most of the leaves, straw and muck and brushed and washed as much out as I can with diesel I can see a pinch bolt but not much else just because it is down the back and I can't see down there properly. Does the lever have a slot cut in it and the pinch bolt clamp it down onto splines?
The lever is less than a hacksaw blade thickness away from the block so am wondering if the lever has worked its way to the end of the shaft. I can't seem to shove it back on if it has.

If anyone can explain or take a photo of this on a pump not fitted to an engine that would be a real help. I don't want to just clamp the bolt up tight not knowing what that is doing. I also don't realy want to have to remove the injector pump either.

Rob
