fuel tap /jet

Post by tom lad »

hi

with the fuel tap/ jet thingy off the tractor but plumbed in to test , should i see a mist of fuel when i work the primer button ?
the tap is turned on but the levers missin on mine so bad to tell if on or off when fitted :curse:
can the atomizer / jet be stripped down ?
think i just need a new one
tested with air line , only faint flow , wrong way with high pressure
just weeps from the tap barrel when fitted , the jet hole is dry .
Some mornings I wake up grumpy, but most mornings I let her sleep in.

I bought a new one but it doesn't screw into the manifold fully. Also the rotating tap was a poor fit in the barrel so I faced it in using some grinding paste followed by Brasso. It turns more smoothly now but I still don't know if it will leak.
So all in all not a great item. I'm in too minds whether it is necessary as early Dextas never had them. So long as your primer isn't leaking it's not needed. Look forward to hearing how you get on.
