CHARGING PROBLEM

Post by guitarman »

Lately my dextra has developed a slight problem with the charge light. When tractor starts it takes about five minutes for charge light to go out.I was wondering if the brushes in the dynamo are worn or a fault in the the voltage regulator. Is there any quick way to check dynamo or voltage regulator. Thanks in advance and happy christmas to you alll.

A dynamo will not normally charge when the engine is idling.

Start with all the simple easy cheep fixs first. Clean the battery terminals and the ground connections. Make sure the generator belt is in good shape and tight, and that your battery is not on its last days....

If you click on the link below, you can access the Lucas fault finding manual which has a step by step dynamo test procedure.
