dual clutch

Post by Brian Cox »

when I restored my super dexta two years ago, the pto plate was ok but the main plate was shreded due to trying to release it from seizure by constantly banging on the pedal when driving. Anyway due to me not knowing about dual clutches, I called in help from my local vintage club. Club member took away clutch and flywheel along with new main plate. Main plate works no problem but pto clutch is not working.Club member is an elderly man and will not come back to see if he can rectify problem.
Can anyone tell me if there is anything I can do without splitting the tractor again.

I would say no. Sounds to me like the adjustment of the pressure plate is incorrect and therefore the thrust bearing is not operating the pressure plate enough to disengage the PTO clutch. I had exactly the same problem when I fitted a new main drive plate years ago.
