rear view mirror for road on cabless Dexta

Post by wfillingham »

Hi,

whilst I have no need whatsoever for a mirror on my Dexta when using it normally, I have read somewhere that it is actualyl a legal requirment to have one when going up the road.

gievn I have no cab, but a roll bar .... which is the best place to locate a mirror. I have an underslung exhaust, so the exhaust mount on is not an option...

ideally i want to locate it somewhere that does not look silly, but still complies with the legality....

I bought a wing mirror with an arm which had a two hole fixing and used the existing front right hand bonnet bolt hole and a second hole below to fit it and it looks and works fine just above the RH headlamp.

ok, thanks for that. that's the sort of places I was thinking was really the only places to actually bolt it to....

I have a bit of thin walled tube thats just the right diameter so will utilise that, plus one of those little round vintage style mirrors you can get.

This is part of my current project to bring it up to basic "modern" specification (well, 1970's say....).....the next project is to change the side/rear lights and fit indicators...whilst i know that being 1961 it does not legally need them, the thing is nowadays people expect to see working indicators... though i am wanting to keep it so it still "looks" old.... ie still at least have approximate period parts.....rather than fitting some nasty black plastic things....
