Hi folks
My name is kevin only new to the site, I have recently inherited a 1957 dexta from my father. I have very little mechanical knowledge. But I am learning my through the restoration of it. I have a problem that I hope some one on the site can give me some help. I can't find anyway to ajust the idleng speed she is currently running at around 1600 to 1800rpm. The throttle is connected to a flap on the air inlet on the engine any help appriced thanks from Donegal ireland.
welcome to the site, the dextas with the penmatic pump do tend to hunt up
and down a bit , the cause could be a pin hole in the diafram in the back of the pump or
mybe there is a hole in the pipe from pump to air inlet, try these two things firsrt
a new diafram can be bought from any of the usual tractor parts places, alsomake sure you always hae the
pipe from oil bath filter to air inletis sealed correctly, sky blue
Thanks very much sky blue I did notice the pipes from the air bath filter to the air inlet is just pushed on at both ends I am going to try jubilee cliping booth ends of the air inlet first, then try the diaphragm and hopefully that might sort out my problem out.
Thanks sky blue job done, changed the diaphragm she is purring like a kitten. Well More like with a bit of asthma, but she is no longer revving her head off. Thank's very much.
Glad you got the haunting sorted, good luck with your restor, this site will be
good for advice and any questions you may have if you run into problems .
most of same things you will come up against will have been expereinced by other members
and someone will most likely be able to answer them . sky blue
