My Dextas serial numbers

Post by Nick »

Hi everyone, am currently getting together all the bits to re-build the dexta I have, and want to try and work out roughly what age she is.

It is live drive (i think) because it has two holes in the clutch rod (clutch is stuck so cant test it).

I have looked on the site about serial numbers and casting codes, and noticed something weird.

Eng number = 1448725
Serial number - bell housing = 975E47998 - 1960
Gearbox casting = A21D - Jan 21st 1960

All good so far, then we get to the backend, which is the weird bit

Hydraulic top cover = P31G
Main backend = P23G
Left trumpet = P23G
Right trumpet = P23G

These are all December, but the year doesnt seem to exist according to info on this site, it lists F and H, but no G, can anyone help??

Those back end casting codes are different from the ones you posted in the Dexta Register on Mar 13, 2011?? :scratchhead:

Do you have the engine cast code?

Well, they are C's no G's, which puts my tractor at very late 59, very early 60, with a dual clutch. Just got to get a v5 somehow now!

So the codes you posted in the 'register' were a bit out...or have you changed the back end...? :scratchhead:
