Serial Number Stamp Design

Post by BriRosen »

Morning All,

My uncle has recently brought a 1964 Dextra (not sure if it's a super) that he's trying to date for the v5,
However some helpful soul in the past has all but removed the last 2 digits of the serial number with some over enthusiastic rubbing
down !
A very small portion of the numbers remains but not enough for a positive identification without some point of reference.
Does anyone know what style font was used on the stamps or where I can find examples ?

Regards
Bri

They must have been rubbing pretty hard to remove the numbers. :D This might help but if you find the casting codes on all the cast parts you can get a pretty good idea of the date of the tractor.

Another point might be that if she is an early tractor she could have anything from a three figure to a five figure number up to 1960

Cheers Brian, think someones taken a grinder to the last 2 numbers & only left us with a few tantalizing fragments !
We've got the start of the number as 09D9223 so fairly sure she's a '64, will try & post a picture later to see if anyone can work it out !
Regards Bri
