I have kept the old spindles but it would be too expensive to repair them. Purchased Agriline spindles and bush kit at a keen price. Unfortunately, there isn't much attention to detail with sizes. For the front axle, I had to get a bush made as the one supplied was far too loose.

I have removed all the old bushes and discovered the Agriline bushes are too large (outer diameter). When the bushes are slid over the spindle, the top bush is quite a good fit but there is quite a bit of movement in the bottom one. Going to measure top and bottom diameters with vernier callipers and see if I can source bushes with a smaller outer diameter.

Looks like they're at it again! Hope you can get some good bushes made, the ID shouldn't fit until they're fitted and reamed correctly.

I decided to persevere with the Agriline bushes. I cleaned up the housing with a drill and wire brush attachment. I made a press for the bushes out of some high tensile steel 12mm threaded bar. I used large flat washers and drilled a 100 mm length of 30mm x 10mm steel plate. I heated up the housing with a blow torch and cooled the bushes down in a freezer. Applying a smear of grease to the outside of the bush makes it go in a lot easier. I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked.

It requires a very large force to pull the bushes in so I would recommend a minimum of 12mm threaded bar. I initially intended to use a large 1/2 socket against the bush so that is why I opted for 12mm threaded bar. Two out of the four bushes will require reaming to enable the spindles to be fitted.

The bushes will be tight. I would be concerned if they weren't tight. Your tool sounds good, I would have preferred a press but that's just me. All bushes should require reaming, so the fact some didn't is not a good sign. Hope everything goes ok after all this.
