Well Snowman if you got her running to your liking thats what matters. Here's another one of my takes while we are on the subject of engines , Sometimes in the past (or even present) for that matter people would repair and fix things according to what the problem was, For example , if the engine was using oil, they probably just fitted a new set of rings. without going the whole way , (i know this because i worked in a dealership and we sold many secondhand Majors, some came back because they used oil and all we did was fit new rings ,) false economy but thats how it was. So to get to my point, i think this is what happens , a bloke decides to Re-ring , he may be a bit novice in his skills ,and he fits the new rings without fitting a Ridge Dodger ring in the top groove, which of course breaks, then does the second and so on , and is why you see many Dexta pistons totally shot. I also don't hold the view that Easy Start is bad for starting Diesel engines on freezing days when all other cold starting devices fail. If they get to the (addicted stage) they are well shot anyway, Ease of starting is down to things been just right Good compression , good battery, starter, Fuel system as it should be, and correct timing, :scratchhead: . Jim.
Fordson Dexta, Barn Door Technology at it's best.

It is good also to check the timing marks of all four/five(with pumpgearwheel) for engine-register...Alvays take off the big coverplate for check of timing-gear,s becouse mybee this has "been tryed some repair from the past with some of the gears mybee,s setting a teeth wrong??" therfor it is so easy to pick off the big cover, for to look, and install it with new gasket again.
The timing marks every place for hole engine will all show up with once, and after the mounting it is only the litle cover in front of fuelpump who need opens for eventually adjusting then. :D
