Are the bolts indicated below in Stefan's pic the 'correct' one's - how could I doubt he has got it right?
Image
Are these the so-called 'cheese head' bolts?

Please confirm:
--A & B are bolts & the same?
--C, D & E are screws & the same?

Where can I get all these?

Many thanks,

I would love to know also where I can get these screws/bolts?!? Something I'm also having difficulty with is locating the black beading your put around the instrument panel and the proofmeter cowl. Where do you people find these things?!?!? lol

Email Bertie Dunlop in your part of the world.
I know he sells cheese-head bonnet bolts.
Very helpful guy

A very timely post, I have just sprayed my tank and instrument panel (along with buying a new coolant gauge) so will also be looking for new screws. I note they do appear to be cheese head self tappers and stainless would be ideal.

Hi, on the subject of bolts/screws, I have found that my local Wilkinson store is quite good for locating this sort of thing.

For beading if you get some black electrical cable and slit it down one side, then remove the wires it can then be pushed round the edges and it makes a good bead.

Ben,

On our '62 Super Dexta and '61 Petrol....
D and E are the same.
C has the same head and thread but is shorter with a blunt point.
B has the same thread but shorter and has a more rounded head.
A has the same flat head as C, D & E but has machine threads.
And the screws for the preheater button have the same head as B but have machine threads with star washers!

Photo showing D&E, C and B:

Hope my 1st attempt at a photo works,

Sorry todrag this thread up again but I am looking for some of the beading for the Instrument panel.

I have seen some on ebay but, wondered if anybody ahd any good pics of it or dimensions as I ahev used this company in the past for such things and they are quite a bit cheaper:

I would also be looking for some of the bonnet seals to from them

Malcolm Hipperson at Downham Market has both bonnet seal and dash panel sealing strip. He has an internet shop on E-bay.

Stefan sent me some beading:

For the lower dash, it's a squared off U-section with the max external dimension (sides) of 5mm. The ext thickness across the bottom of the U is 3mm. The internal measurement is 1mm. Fit on panel is perfect. Seal seems to be only on the front panel edges with none underneath.

For the upper dash, it's a more rounded U-section, with external sides of 6mm and ext thickness across the U about 2.5mm, and internal measurement of about 1mm. Fit on the panel is good with just a slight tendency to ruckle on the curves, but certainly looks OK in Stefan's pic below:

I wonder what Malcolm sells for these?

Bensdexta could you (or others) have a look at http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/shopping.a ... entId=4#21 and pick what strip you think best matches your description.

If you could this would be very helpful mate and would maybe put this to bed.

Big Thanks again. I'd be nowhere without this forums help!

The panel thickness is a critical dimension, so U46 is the only real choice. The 10mm sides on this are a bit big, which might give a problem going round curves. Perhaps one could pair it down with a steady hand.

Finally got my Screws!! lol

The 3/4 inch that Les pictured are available here at ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350490575264? ... 1439.l2649

There are 'SLOT PAN HEAD SELF TAPPING SCREWS No 10'. You will also need 'No 10 U Nuts' for the scres to screw into. Steering Covers, Top instrument panels, ignition switch etc.

Namrick do all the other longer self tapping screws and U nuts. Check them out here at: http://www.namrick.co.uk/acatalog/Zinc_ ... otted.html

The U nuts are available here: http://www.namrick.co.uk/acatalog/Home_U_Nuts_111.html

Remember to get No 10 size. I ordered at 2pm last Friday and they arrived here in Northern Ireland at 12pm the next day!!

I'm glad to finally get this sorted! Thanks for all your help guys!
