Throttle Rod

The eye in the end of my throttle rod, that fits over the ball on the throttle butterfly in the inlet manifold, is very worn and loose. See arrowed item in Stefan's pic below:

Should the eye have a spring & ball inside it to clamp it onto the butterfly? If so mine has gone
Where can I get a replacement rod, or failing that a servicable eye end?
Any suggestions appreciated

Thanks,

Ben,
try the throttle rod from a early series 2 land Rover if i remember the ball and nuckles arnt far away from each other the rod from the linkage to the carb might be the right length but there easy to cut and lengthen.
ill have a look through my collection of landrover parts and report back to you.
Regards
James

James,
I can easily weld another knuckle (socket) onto the rod.
Many thanks for your help,

Just for the record: Why doesn't my Superdexta have this throttle thing at all?
Too modern?

Yes your SD has the minimec pump with mechanical governor, whereas the earlier Dex's had a pneumatic governor.
All the best,

If you have trouble finding the correct part try this.. Have a look at the gear linkage on a motorbike, they use the rose jointed type ends. I believe ive got a few in my workshop which you might be able to adapt. I will have a look tommorow and a think! Failing that the Land Rover type might be an idea. One of the biggest LR parts people is Paddock Motors in Derby, they have a large website. Also thinking that ive seen similar on Lawn Mowers.

Gerald,
Many thanks for the tip. I found this Sparex 6.5mm throttle clip, S.41343. There is also a 5mm clip S.41342. Does anyone know if either of these would fit a Dexta rod?
Also this Sparex throttle rod kit, S.42875:

But I asume that my old ball would have to be removed, and the new one bolted on?
Alternatively would this 8N throttle socket from Dennis Carpenter across the pond, fit a Dexta throttle butterfly?
Advice appreciated

I got a 2nd hand throttle rod end (that goes onto the butterfly throttle in the inlet) from Malcolm Hipperson.
I also got some new clips which sort of fit, which I think will be OK with some bending to get them to secure the rods without jamming etc.
