how do you know when you should just pay up and buy a whole new water pump?
Its making some noise(more than the motor)
it leaks a little
but it still pumps like a...
thing is $30 to $120 i know a new pump would be shiny and easy but what do i look for in the old one to know that it is beyond repair?
is it that hard to pull down? the impeller seems fine can i just fit a standard bearing seal?

Hi Greendoglive, when the pump is leaking an or making noises it is mot likely time to replace or repair, i had the same problem an just took the plunge an replaced the whole unit as after going to the bother of taking it out i thought better to replace .Gerry

I recently useda repair kit from Agriline.
It took about an hour to do using hand tools and a puller.
I had to heat the casting with a blowtorch to extract the old bearing assembly, the new one went in no problems and so far all OK!
