Gearbox and rear oil

I know this subject comes up often, but.....

After putting alot of work in I don't want to make a mistake.
I have found a good deal on 5 gallon pails of "Super Trac TO-4
SAE 30". This is from a US distributor called Smitty's Supply. http://www.smittysinc.net/
The oil is labled as a hydraulic oil for Allison C-4 and Caterpillar TO-4 transmissions.

Could this be used in my '61 Dexta gearbox and rear axle or should I use an engine oil SAE 30? I read in a past post that hydraulic oil could damage the rear axle.
I need help making the right choice.

Thanks,
Gene

Use their FleetGARD heavy duty 15w40. any left over you can use in your engine, (diesel engine) that is.
Reading some of the posts on TFPF, myself i think people tend to make thinks a little complicated, when really it's not. We are dealing with very simple tecno, with Dexta's Majors, early tractors.
If someone has lot's of vehicle applications then TOU is ok , Thats what it's for.
Dont us it in your Lear Jet though.
Jim.

Believe it or not, that is the oil I looked at first. I didn't know if 40 weight would be too much for my hydraulics. I have heard stories of the wrong oil making the lift not work right.
