Parts List says bolts are 5/16" 18tpi (ie UNC) with 7/8" hex head. Can't help with the length though

Hi,
7/8" might be the length. They take a 1/2" wrench.

I think Les might be right - 7/8" head would be rather large!

As a general rule you will find that bolts which screw into castings on the Dextas are UNC, whilst studs are UNC at one end and UNF at the other. In other words tapped holes in casting are invariably UNC.

As many of the tapped holes in the castings are "blind" it is essential that the correct length of bolt or stud is used. If they are too long it is possible that the casting will be damaged and in the case of the axle and gearbox castings will result in oil leaking past the threads.
