Just spent a couple of days in the North Island. I was told about a collection up there and called into see the owner. Around 200 tractors from fully restored to hedge row condition, including 3 petrol dextas. All 3 had a fair amount of rust but a couple are said to run.
Some very interesting tractors and well worth the visit.

About an hour north of Wellington on the Kapiti coast.
This would be the worst of them and the only tractor he has hiding in a hedge. The remainder are in a mix of clear open to shed storage.

Hedge stored Petrol Dexta

I guess you didn't get any serial numbers off them, as it would be interesting to see how the serial numbers match up with other Petrol Dexta's in NZ like "FPL 3761E" and if they came in batches with sequential serial numbers or totally random. If I ever get that far south, I might have a look.TSG.

Yes, got the supliment thanks Derek. It has been a help already. Many thanks.
Not had the chance to get to Brayshaw yet. I hear it's very good. We are in the middle of our crank up weekend at Pidgeon valley. Good weekend but the turn out is down on previous years. I suspect the recession has slowed things a bit.

Peter, would these tractors be from Rod Clifton on State Hiway One just south of Otaki?

Yes,
A nice guy who was more than willing to show me around and share his knowledge. I would add that the one photo I have posted does not reflect the condition of the majority of his tractors. He has accomplished an enormous amount of work in just a few years. Worth a look if you are passing.
His e mail address is easy to find. I wonder if he would be happy to share the serial numbers?

Sounds like a good Kiwi bloke. He is restoring a Rushton, one of only three in NZ.

There is an article in "Rural News" February 15,2011 on him.Got some good quote's, liKe , "My wife used to say to me 'You can't save every old tractor'.I tell her,'I'm going to try' "! Has a picture of an E27N halftrack with the article.
