this has been dicussed before im sure, but would someone know the size as there is difference

the pipe from fuel pump tap to lift pump on inj/including ferrel nut
the pipe from fuel pump tap to air inlet
i think agriline has these for the dexta but not for the superdexta 62/ 64
if i can get pipe and nuts i can possibley make my own,

As far as I am aware the Dexta and Super Dexta fuel systems are the same as they use the same components. Early CAV filter housings were threaded 1/2" UNF

The original fittings for the filter and lift pump are 1/2" UNF male nuts, the copper pipe is 1/4" OD.

Hi the lenght of the pipe from fuel pump tap to lift pump may be different for the min/pump and the pn/pump
also the size of the pipe from fuel pump tap to air manifold is smaller fitting, i have used copper in the
past but still have problems with leaks, as copper is to soft and can be over tighten , also movement
of tractor over time can make copper pipes leak, this is probley why metal pipes where used,
one other thing was it always a ferrule that was origanely used or was the end of pipe made to fit

All the pipes that I have seen have been fitted with an olive and a male nut.

If you are experiencing leaks at the fittings try assembling them with a smear of sealing compound such as Stag and only tighten the nut just enough to pinch the pipe. if it still leaks try nipping it up a little more. This is the practice I adopt on the fuel line fittings for my oil fired boiler.

I am probley the worst nut tightener in the world ,i seem to either over do it or underdo it ,
these fuel lines seem to law onto themselevs Thanks for the tips .

Hi all
My pipe to the lift pump is leaking and as I'm off to the Somerset Tractor show tomorrow then on my shoppiong list is a new item, 1/4" olives. Theres enough spare length in the pipe to allow me to cut just before the olive and refit a new one. In the mean time some PTFE tape seems to be holding well.

Bought 1/4" pipe and ferrules from N Somerset tractor show and were an easy fit using existing nuts.
Used minimum torque to tighten and stop fuel leaking past. However have now found that the pump gasket was the real culprit and will have to change that!!
Copper work hardens and becomes brittle over time but can be softened again by annealling heat treatment.

Hi gerry was the pipe you bought copper or metal, i think i my also have
a leak at the lift pump gasket , although the lift pump is a new reproduction one,
it is hard to tell at the moment untill i can make sure of the pipe connections, let me know
how you get on with sealing the gasket, as i may have to do this

It was standard copper 1/4" pipe.
The leaking pump is original so maybe just a gasket change or I do have a new one so I'll try both and let you know.

The diaphragm was leaking so a cleanup and some silicon grease to seal the faces and it's all back together and not leaking now.
