An update for our Dexta

Post by Chug-A-Lug »

Hi all,

not been on here much exept to ask the odd question. Thought I'd show everyone how our Dexta is doing.

First off, a video of our Dexta earlier in the year.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAUjdHOw7Ik

New lights (grilles had to come off), weather cap on the exhaust, new (part worn) rear tyre to replace the cracked/spilt one, and a new battery after a winter of troublesome starting.

Then some pictures of a more recent addition, hydraulic quick release coupling and return pipe.

The return pipe was to enable use of a roller I'd planned to borrow, but the ground dried out too quick so yet to test it. Might see if I can try it out this week when I go collect a trailer for another little job I'm doing.

And a pair of brand new wheels & tyres in the correct colour for the year of our Dexta. Showing them off the evening after fitting them at a local pub vintage vehicle meet.

Adjusted the hydraulics yesterday for a second time in as many years. The new follower pin had worn the high spots off the cam, but it works a treat again now :D

Oh, and I've just reminded myself by looking at the pictures, we added the clip to stop the level box spinning round under load... but it doesn't seem to work very well. Have I put it on right?

Enjoy :)

It would be my opinion that the handbrake is applied in the video, The tractors wheels do not seem to run free on the headland turn, And if you look at the handbrake position in the Photo, and the position it's in ' in the video , you can see its in an higher position, Jim.
Fordson Dexta, Barn Door Technology at it's best.

Hmmm... That's a good point. You're probably right.

If I'm honest, I need to give the brake linkage some attention. The handbrake pawl does catch when the brakes are applied so that may have happened some point before that video was shot.

Thanks though, you've reminded me to look into it :)
