Fuel Tap

Post by Mervyn Spencer »

Hi Chaps

The fuel taps currently available for the Dextas' to me don't look right. Should you fit a new tap that is available now, would the knob to turn it off or on, be behind the steering drop arm cover plates facing the steering column :?: . I recall sometime ago on my dad's S/Dextas' the tap faced ones left knee :? .

Hi Mervyn,

Yes, the outlet points in the wrong direction if one has the knob to the outside.
The original number with the primer pump was superceded and fits other Ford tractors and of course did not have the primer on it but I had to order one to find that out.
CNH had a note in the box that said they were to be field adjusted when installed on Dextas which meant adding a new pipe with a 180 degree bend in it.

Les

PS> Mine ended up on the Petrol Dexta as it already had the 180 pipe bend!

Mervyn,
Trying to remember how to post photos!?
If this works it is a shot the petcock on a petrol Dexta.

Rubber extension fuel line works for petrol but would probably need a solid line for diesel.

On page 110, figures 7 & 8 of the parts manual on Stephan's site shows about the same arrangement.

Hope this helps,
Les

Hello chaps, i am in need of a new fuel tap because the one i have is original, and where the pipe fitting screws in the back that goes to the inlet manifold, it is threaded completely (the pump action etc still works).
Are the ones that are available online 'new' any good?
Oh yay, look, another seized bolt! Lets get a hammer.....and some kano.....and some cider!
