Hi All

Having been asked a few questions regarding replacement wiring looms, I dug mine out of the box of new bits I have been gathering and took a few pics to show.

The key reason behind sourcing this particular loom was it appears to be the best quality I could find and is made up by the supplier.

The loom has a cloth braid covering and most of the connectors are fitted (with the exception of a few to the likes of the starter motor switch and the dash switches) with many also being soldered for added strength and lower resistance. Many of the alternatives I have looked at (apologies to any suppliers at the numerous shows I went to for looking and not buying!) have plastic sleeving which is not so well finished and many of the crimped ends are a little rough.

The price was also competitive.

Are the wires the same colours as the original? If so that makes problem solving much easier.
Also have you done a trial fit yet - I wonder if the various cables fit to length?
Do the bulb holders fit the so-called standard lens covers?

The bulb holders certainly fit the original lense holders (all be it tight) and they are electricaly insulated (unlike some of the aftermarket ones!). I am yet to buy new lense holders.

As for fit, it seems to compare ok with the remains of my original, I will check the wire colouring against the diagrams for accuracy (I seem to recall it looked pretty good when I did this some 12 months ago)

Good, that's important as various discussions on here make plain.

That loom does look a better quality than some around, where abouts did you get it from? And where would you get the new bulb colour lenses from, as i need to buy a new loom and lenses.

Ok, just checked the wiring colour coding against the manual (as hosted on this site) and they do indeed match.

I have still not decided which lense set to get but need to soon as that part is ready to re-assemble.

I have decided to use cheapo pressed steel lenses (got them from Hipperson, but widely available). They are a close match to the originals and work fine, but poorer plating means they will eventually corrode. So I'll give them a lick of anti-rust paint to help preserve them. When they do eventually rust, they will be easy to replace.

Important to remember that the bulb holders you use with these lenses must be insulated.

I'm also working on a laminated gasket to fit under the upper dash panel to accommodate the lenses and tacho, thus avoiding the horrid widely available uniform gaskets that don't fit properly.
