Hi All
Another rubber question from me.
I am trying to find a source for all the various bits of rubber trim for the dexta and I am now looking at the bonnet ones.
I note on ebay and other suppliers sites a dumb bell style seal with rivets.
My question is, is this the correct type?
The reason I ask is that if the rubber strip sold was designed to be fixed using rivets and to be as per original then I would expect to see holes drilled in my tank and nose cone to take them yet mine has no holes at all.
It did have an adhesive backed cloth type seal before I stripped it down for painting.

Re: Bonnet rubbers
Hi Russel
If my memory serves me correctly the rubber was riveted to the edges of the bonnet/engine covers that rest on the tank and cowl. I bought my rubber from Agriline, who also supplied me with rivets. However the riverts supplied are not the same as the originals. My originals had a hollow centre with small washers. It appears that the rivet was fitted through the tin and rubber and then the washer slipped over it and pressed which gave you that folded/curled effect onto the washer. A bit long winded, I'm sorry!
Good luck Mervyn

Re: Bonnet rubbers
Hi Mervyn
Thanks for that, now I understand.
So the rubbers at the front go on the cowl and at the back on the rear edge of the bonnet.
Which suggests the stick on cloth stuff on my fuel tank was probably an after market mod.

I'm ninty percent sure that the rubbers are fitted to the bonnet edges only. Unfortunately my bonnet is wrapped up and in the garage rafters rubberless. I can check in the morrow for you. I'm sure there must be other members who can give us some clarity.

Re: Bonnet rubbers
Just checked the parts drawing and it shows the front rubber fixed to the cowl and rear to the bonnet.....
.....that is of course assuming the parts drawing is correct (which it might not be!)

Re: Bonnet rubbers
I checked my bonnet and cowl and you are 100% right about the rubber. Well done.
Re: Bonnet rubbers
Hi I was just thinking about this subject and there it's posted What luck. I live in the US would anyone know where to find the bonnet rubber here. I read about the supply houses in Europe on the site and you seem to have better access to parts for the Dexta then here. (Because it was made in England) Is there a part number for the rubber kit to do this job. Will a supply house in Europe send parts here to the US market Thanks for any in put on the subject Jerry
Re: Bonnet rubbers
Suggest you try Dunlup tractor spares or Malcolm Hipperson for a good helpful service. Not sure what the import tax situation is your side of the pond and I know that US customs can be awefully slow, but should reach you eventually.jerry wrote:Will a supply house in Europe send parts here to the US market
