New SDexta owner

Post by Richard Tillman »

Hello all. Great site with tons of information. I've learned a lot already.
I'm a new Dexta owner. What year Dexta I have no idea. I just put a down payment on a nice looking tractor with a 1 armed bandit trip bucket loader and a box scraper added on. It will be delivered in about 5 days. Here's mydilemmaa. I've never sat on a OLD tractor before. I've driven new loader units that articulate in the middle with a twist shift and pedal throttle when I worked at a sawmill but never anything like a dexta. It will be trial and error for me. I've read the operators manual 3 or 4 times and am pretty sure I can get this tractor moving and working but I'd like to know if there is anything I should know ahead of time? Any tricks or things to watch for?
I bought this tractor because I'm tired of trying, by hand, to keep up a 4.5 acre (1.82 hectare) lot with a 40 meter long 25degree steep driveway that washes out every year.
Well that's about it. Thank you in advance for any and all answers. I look forward to learning more about dextas.

Rick

Where abouts are you?
If you've read the manual, you should be fine. Take it gently to start with till you're a bit more familiar and take care on that driveway - that is steep. Does she have a roll over frame?

Thank you for replying. I'm located in Sunny northern California. Redding, California to be exact. It was 106 today with winds gusting to 29 mph. Feels like a blow drier being pointed at you. lol
No roll over frame. Wide opened. She looks all original. The guy selling her painted her with as many coats as it took to stick. I'm hoping to find some serial numbers to determine exact age but won't be holding my breath.

See the General pages on the main website here (not the forum) for ser nos, dating etc. Also read your casting codes inc the engine cast code. Those will check the originality & date of your baby. In sunny Calif, they should still be clear as day! Looks like nice country where you are
