Hi I have problems with 2/5th gear every time i engage the gear and go to drive it feels like there is teeth missing the tractor will drive but it jumps in 2nd and 5th.
Is this a common fault with the Dexta?
The tractor is early 1958 957E1498.
If it is the 2nd gear or a transfer gear can it be replaced by splitting the cluch housing or does the whole box have to be removed?
Is anyone braking a early Dexta gearbox, as I belive the gear ratios were changed on the later ones.

You can see a lot of the gearbox inner workings with the gear lever cover off. May need to drop the oil though.

A mate of mine had problems with a MF35 gearbox a few months back. The cost of a used gearbox from the wreakers turned out to be less than even a minor repair.

Just about to strip the box down I will post the outcome.
