Hi!
I'm searching for a wiring diagram for Fordson Dexta or Super Dexta... But
-for a Lucas Regulator with connections A1, A, D, F, E
- negative ground
Can anyone help?
Thanks, George

A1 = Output.
A = Battery Connection
D = Dynamo Output, Large Terminal
F = Dynamo Field Terminal, Small Terminal
E = Earth
Does not matter if you have + or - Earth as long as you correctly polarise the dynamo.
Engine Off,
Dynamo bolted to tractor
Both leads Off the Dynamo,
Wire from output terminal of battery then -
"Flash", momentary contact, to "F" terminal on dynamo, job done.
All dynamos, whether new or second hand must be polarised as above to avoid possible catastrophic damage to tractor and environment. I have carried out a number of insurance damage estimates in my time, on tractors where the farmer saved money by fitting a dynamo himself without understanding the need to polarise. One in particular where an Atcos building and a large amount of hay went up.

My problem is, that A and E are cut away and A1 is going via the main switch to the battery --> so there is something wrong...
About the polarisation, my english is not good enough to understand this
"Wire from output terminal of battery then - "Flash", momentary contact, to "F" terminal on dynamo, job done."
Does it mean:
that I have to take the A1 wire at the regulator and put it to the "F" on the dynamo?

Have you seen this?
http://www.fordsontractorpages.nl/manuals/dx_isf35.jpg
I can't vouch for its correctness as I have an alternator.
There is also a wiring diagram downloadable from fordson-dexta.de (workshop manual electrical system), but this does not show the terminal A1

Hi!
Yes, I have this already...
But, how do I flash my generator correctly? Which wire should be touched were???

Hi
Got my new Dynamo and my new Lucas Regulator. Startedt to connect it and already my first question:
What does "A = Battery connection" means? Direct connections from A to plus at Battery?
What does "A1 = Output" mean? Where do I need to connect it?
Thanks, George

hello
yes the A is direct feed to the battery. + or - depends on what you use as earth.
The A1 is feed to light switch ignition etc.
In that way the regulator is able to adjust the voltage up slightly when driving with lights etc in order to keep the same charging voltage to the battery.

Flashing is carried out in order to magnetise the dynamo rotor slightly so by passinga current through the field winding it magnetises the core and some residual magnetism is left.
This ensures that when you run the dynamo, voltage is generated without the field winding being connected, once the output voltage rises far enough, the regulator switches the feed to the field winding on and away we go.
Hence if the dynamo is not flashed then the dynamo will never output anything.
