Dexta 3 cylinder simms injector pump

Hello, I have a one owner Dexta in need of help, probably a 1958-9 year. This tractor has been starting great but has a trickle of diesel from the pump, from the air chamber between the diaphragm and the pump itself. On removing the front cover of the pump I can see that the diaphragm is good but the rack which is a square rod, seems to have worn the bronze guide plug embedded in the alloy case. This bronze plug should allow a tight fit but smooth movement of the rack from side to side, however it is a sloppy fit and is allowing diesel to escape into the dry chamber. I am no mechanic but hope you can follow this description. On the pump there are no washers just metal on metal which I think makes it pretty old. I know I can get a refurb pump on Ebay for £300 ish but wonder if the parts I need can still be obtained to fit a new bronze plug/guide and save some serious money.

The tractor needs a fair bit of simple TLC and my funds are very low.
Can you offer any advice on an affordable solution, I am reluctant to exchange the pump as it is original and would prefer to fix it.

Thanks

Martin

Hi Martin
Where are you?
A full overhaul of a Dexta FIP dosn't cost that much.
If you are in the UK try Peter Strong near Reading.
Give him a call and he'll advise you.
