On ebay, there is a clutch alignment tool for a ford 2000, and also one for a mf 35/135. Would either of these do for my diesel dexta?

You do not really need a tool, you can do it by eye. I fitted many clutches in tractors and cars just by looking at the clutch plate spline/spigot bearing position.

Ok brilliant, i just got the impression that it was nye on impossible to do it, but im sure i will manage. As im sure you have read brian, the clutch on my dexta (live drive) appears to be stuck to the flywheel, i have one last thing im going to try and if that doesnt work then im going to bite the bullet over the winter and do the clutch (my first one)

There was a previous thread re clutch Alignment tools.
They are used to ensure the friction plate is central in the clutch assembly to allow the splined shaft to enter without having to dislodge/align the disk sideways which is under pressure.
I mamaged it with a selection of sockets and extension rod to fit in the clutch pilot bearing centre and clutch driving centre (the splined bit) whan I fitted up the clutch assembly.
As Brian says try it by eye and you won't be far out.

Clutch alignment tools can usually move slightly in the pilot bearing, so the clutch disc is never exactly centered anyway. I usually use my fingers to align the outside diameter of the disc with the O.D. of the pressure plate.

I just re-read this thread and realized that you are talking about a double clutch. The method above will only work for a single clutch.

I just did mine by eye as Brian suggests and it went together fine.

you can fab one with odd bolts and lots of insulation tape to take up the play / make it a nice fit
